Close to Heaven

April 6, 1922 - April 22, 2008
My sweet Grandma Moss returned home to our loving Heavenly Father on Tuesday. This was a bitter sweet moment for our family. She has been sick for some time and we are glad to know that she is out of pain, but we will miss her so much! The last couple of weeks I have felt heaven so close with the little Lincoln being born and Grandma heading home! I am so grateful at this time for the Plan of Salvation and the comfort it brings in sad times like these! Grandma we love you and we now that you are jumping, laughing, dancing, telling stories, and preaching to people on the other side!
Grandma I will miss your amazing stories! I have never met anyone who can tell stories the way you did! I loved going into stores with you and watching as you interacted with everyone. We would always laugh and say that you had a best friend at every store in Ogden and in every state of the U.S.
I will miss having you with us at our annual Halloween party, Christmas morning, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc. I will miss Introducing my children to you as they enter our family! I will miss playing Yahtzee and Encore with you! I will miss your listening ear and the great empathy that you have for everyone!

I will miss having my children sit on your lap as you sing to them and tell them your fun stories. I told Kenedy on Tuesday that Grandma Moss went to live with Heavenly Father and that she was all better. Kenedy replied, "Yeah, Grandma Moss is all better!" She prayed every night that Grandma Moss would get better, she was thrilled. As the day went on, everyone we spoke to that day, she had to tell them how happy she was that Grandma Moss was better! I wish I had the innocence and Faith of child! Kenedy is such a great example to me. I am so happy that Grandma is better, but I am saddened that we are done making memories! I will truly miss you Grandma! I hope to become half the women that you were!

Lincoln is Home!

We got to bring Lincoln home today! Yeah! The original plan was to bring him home on Thursday, but the Little guy had to stay an extra day due to Jaundice. So after Mike and I signed a ton of papers we headed up to the hospital to hang out with our new little son while he laid out under the lights. It was so cute, he looked like he was in a tanning bed, he had little sunglasses and everything. (I will post pictures of that later, they are on a disposable camera. I forgot the camera the day we signed our papers. I don't how I did that, I didn't have anything on my mind! LOL)

Kenedy is having so much fun with her new little brother. A few days ago she told us that she didn't want a brother, just a puppy. Today she says she loves her little brother. If anyone asks her if they can have him, she says, "No, he's mine!" I really hope she continues to feel this way. I know it will be an adjustment for her, but for now she seems to enjoy it.

We gave Lincoln his first bath (at home) today. He hated it! Kenedy got so upset because he was so upset. She kept saying, "No Mama!" I think she thought I was hurting him because he was crying so hard! It will be nice when he can take a real bath. Babies hate the sponge baths! Do you blame them? I would hate being wiped down with a washcloth, it is freezing!
Lincoln is such a good little baby, I hope things stay that way! He eats very well and sleeps really well! He only cries when he is hungry or being changed. He is a snugly little boy! He loves to lay his head on my shoulder and just cuddle up! I think I even love it more than he does! I love babies! I love the way they smell, cry, sleep, hold their little mouths, and look around at everything! I just love every second with babies! I love little Lincoln so much! He is such a miracle and I am eternally grateful to Brittany!
Here are a bunch of pics, from the last couple days, minus the ones on the disposable camera!

Drumroll Please. . . .

This little girl would like to publicly announce that as of, 10:45 pm on the 8th of April,

she is a big sister. . .

To this little guy!

Lincoln Michael Bird

7 lbs. 4 oz

19 1/2 inches long
This Mommy. . . . .
And this Daddy. . . . . .

Could not be more happy and in love with this little guy! WELCOME Lincoln!

The newest member of the Bird Family came so quick to a huge family that is already hopelessly in love with him! Here is a short version of how this little man found us:

Sunday, March 30th, we received a call from our sweet sister Erica asking us to send our adoption profile to her. Erica knows the sister of our Sweet Birthmom, Brittany. By Friday, April 4th, we were on the phone with Brittany being informed that she was due Thursday April 10th and that she was thinking of placing this sweet miracle with us. Monday April 7th, we met with Brittany at the hospital as she was starting the longest LABOR of her life! That brings us to tonight where after hours of Labor and 2hours of pushing, Lincoln was born at 10:45 pm. And yes, I got to witness Lincoln be born! What a blessing in my life to have had the chance to see one of our children be born, but now two? We are so blessed!! I really thought that Kenedy would be the only child I would ever see be born, but sweet Brittany invited me to be there as Lincoln entered the world! Thank you Brittany, you will never know how much that meant to me! We Love you so much!

Brittany is such a miracle in our life! We can not comprehend the emotions, pain, and love of growing a baby for nine months, having that long delivery, and then looking into the face of that beautiful baby boy knowing that you will place this baby into the arms of another mother and father. What courage and love this action takes! I can't say I am courageous enough to do this, but I am so grateful to our two wonderful birthmoms that have the courage to do this so that Mike and I can raise a family! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

To all Birthmoms out there, words can not express our the gratitude and love that we have for each of you!

Adoption is such a blessing and a MIRACLE in our life!

If all goes well, we should be bringing Lincoln home on Thursday! Please keep us and our Sweet Birthmother in your prayers! We will post information and more pictures as soon as things evolve! Thanks to all our family and friends who have been so willing to help us get things ready for this baby to come into our home and into our lives!
